AgriBusiness – Irish Farmers Journal report in association with KPMG
Agribusiness, is an Irish Farmers Journal report in association with KPMG published earlier this month. The report looks at the agribusiness sector in Ireland which has an annual turnover of €26 billion, of which €24 billion is retained with the Irish economy.
In particular interest to the Adesco team, is the nationwide review of the feed sector with four in-depth case studies from John Thompson and Sons, Brett Brothers, Liffey Mills and J.H Roche and Sons. The case studies are well written, giving a realistic view on the Irish feed sector and the challenges and opportunities it faces, both north and south.
Some of the ‘fast facts’ from the Irish feed sector are as follows:
- 30 milling companies (Republic of Ireland (RoI), 10 feed companies (Northern Ireland (NI)
- Annual sector turnover of €1.2 billion (RoI) and €460 million (NI)
- Supply 3.05 million tonnes (RoI) and 1.7 million tonnes (NI) of animal feed each year
